Father's Day June 17, 2012 (3rd Sunday in June) |
|
Father's Day
is a day of Celebration in honor of all Fathers,
and all men who have acted as a father figure
in our life - whether as Stepfathers, Uncles,
Grandfathers, or even elder brothers and also
to honor fatherhood as Mother's Day celebrates
motherhood.
This day is celebrated by giving gifts and
wishes to fathers.
Roses are the Father's Day flowers: red to
be worn for a living father and white if the
father has died.
The driving force behind the establishment
of the celebration of Father's Day was Mrs.
Sonora Smart Dodd to honor her loving father,
William Jackson Smart. She was inspired by
Anna Jarvis's efforts to establish Mother's
Day.
